Rotterdam walking tour outline
During your walking tour (2,5-3hr), you will be taken to the sights that make Rotterdam. The guide from Rotterdam, Yoreh, will tell you about how the city was founded on the river Rotte (1270), how it developed over the years (including the Harbor and World War II) and what is to come in the future. We will end inside the iconic Markthal (modern Sistine Chapel?), where you will be surrounded by delicious food. The tour is done in small groups, so you can have an optimal and tailored experience.
From iconic structures like the Cube Houses, Erasmusbrug and Markthal, to the Santa Claus Gnome, Maritime District, Old Harbor and some hidden gems, other tours won't take you.
Rotterdam Route and main sights:
- We will start at Eendrachtsplein next to the Santa Claus statue: Is it that time of year already?! No, it is a statue with a funny twist!
- Museum Quarter: If you feel creative, visit this location with the best museums and beautiful architecture.
- Shipping quarter: This area in Rotterdam is right next to the main city center, but even locals forget about this gem from time to time. It is calm, beautiful and with breathtaking views of the river Maas, Hotel New York, SS Rotterdam and the skyline. From there you will have views on and explanation about the Wilhelmina Pier, Hotel New York and The Photo Museum.
- Erasmusbrug: The 137m 'swan' bridge, connection north and south over De Nieuwe Maas river.
- Maritime District, Museum & Destroyed City statue: Rotterdam is missing its heart, and it's coming all together at this location.
- The White House: No, not like the one in the USA, but with fascinating stories!
- Oude Haven (Old Harbor): get cozy in the terraced filled old-harbor, which dates back to 1350(ad), with sights of the Cube houses.
- Cube houses: The funny cube shaped houses, which form a forest. Binnenrotte: the big market square, which hosts the Public Library and is close to the famous St. Laurens Church.
- Markthal: The final stop will give you time to dive into the world's cuisine!

If you get stuck on the payment screen, or your transaction is not confirmed, there are several reasons why this could happen. Perform the following checks to locate the issue:
1. Check your internet connection. If your connection is slow or not secure, online transaction may be aborted for security reasons. This may happen if you are trying to book on public WiFi (like on an airport or train station), or when connecting to a busy hotspot (like a cafe or restaurant).
2. Make sure you didn’t perform an online transaction shortly before. If you perform multiple online transactions with the same information in a short timespan, an anti-fraud protection prevents duplicate transactions for protection against theft. This may also happen, if you made a mistake when entering your card details or CVV number and re-entered them. Wait for a few minutes and try again.
3. Check if your online payment system is down. If you are paying via online banking, visit your bank’s website or phone application to ensure that your bank is still up and running. If you are using an electronic payment system like PayPal or SEPA, visit their website to check if their services are temporarily down.
4. If you are paying with card, verify if it is valid. When your card is declined, it is usually because it went past its expiry date, or you have reached the maximum number of transactions. Try a different method or contact your bank.
If these steps won’t resolve the issue, send us an email. We will attend to your email within 24 hours.
If you cancel 24 hours or more before the starting time of the tour, you will get all money refunded. Any cancellations after this will not be refunded.

Fantastic tour. Yoreh is a friendly guide and spoke excellent English. the route, topics, and supporting materials were spot on. He is also a skilled (pro) photographer with a good eye for interesting shots. The tour was definitely worth the money. I only wish we had arranged this earlier because we discovered so many things we need to come back!

This was one of the best if not THE best guided tour we have taken. We have done many walking and cycling tours and reviews often say “so-and-so was brilliant” etc. However with Yoreh, this was 100% the case. We booked the tour at the last minute – the morning we disembarked from our cruise ship. Thinking that Rotterdam looked rather dull at first, we even considered taking the train up to Amsterdam for the day. Thankfully we didn’t! Yoreh, the guide (from Rotterdam himself) explained the history & architecture of the city using illustrations throughout. So much was covered including the bombing of Rotterdam during WW2, the evolution of the city & its architecture, a description of the city’s musuems – plus much more. He was friendly & happy to answer questions throughout. This was one of ths most enjoyable tours we have done and we would wholeheartedly recommend it! What we thought would be an uninteresting layover in Rotterdam turned into somewhere we would love to return to! (Via Get Your Guide)

**An Unforgettable Rotterdam Experience with Yorej** I had the immense pleasure of exploring Rotterdam with Yoreh as our guide, and I cannot recommend this experience enough. Yoreh is not just a tour guide; he is a passionate storyteller who pours his heart and soul into every moment of the journey. From the outset, it was clear that he genuinely cares about sharing the beauty and history of Rotterdam with his guests. Yoreh took us to almost all of the city’s remarkable spots and landmarks, ensuring that each location was seen and truly experienced. He meticulously explained the significance of each site, patiently answering every question and allowing us plenty of time to soak in the atmosphere. His ability to blend fun with facts made the tour incredibly engaging—whether you’re young or old, his dynamic approach resonates with everyone. What stood out most was the warmth and care that Yorej showed to each participant. (Via Get Your Guide)

We did this tour with Yoreh and he was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and funny too! He took us to places off the beaten track and also had photos of the past to help bring the realities of how and why Rotterdam is the way you see it today… would definitely recommend this tour! (Via Get Your Guide)

My husband, adult son and myself went on this walking tour with Yoreh and we all loved the experience. One of the best walking tours we have ever done. It struck the right balance with information and entertainment.
Yoreh was extremely knowledgeable and used photos and documents to good effect to explain different aspects of the history as we went along. He was an excellent storyteller and kept up an amusing banter throughout the 3 hours. We got to see many sights of Rotterdam which we would not have otherwise discovered and found his explanation of some of the local culture really interesting. All in all a great experience which we would highly recommend. (Via Trip Advisor)

Yoreh was phenomenal! I think the most knowledgeable tour guide we have ever had. So accommodating of our schedule and kind. The tour was comprehensive, thoughtful, and well-prepared. It was the perfect way to spend a day in Rotterdam. We learned so much and had a delightful time. Five stars is not enough!
Rebekka– :
The tour was incredible! The guide, Yoreh, really loves the city he grew up in, and is honest about the good and bad things in Rotterdam. I liked his story telling, taking you through the old parts, with some neat villas, to the modern parts. Including the past, wwii, present and future. Quite some architecture, important people and art in the story as well. It all aligned well, and I enjoyed his personal anecdotes from back when he was a kid, something only locals can share with you. It’s a 3 hour walk, so come prepared! The Stroopwafels halfway were a nice energy boost and we had some places to sit while we listened to his stories. It was good we ended the tour in the food markethall, because as I was quite hungry near the end. Great last stop. 100% recommendable! (Via Get Your Guide)

Yoreh was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable about the city and happy to answer questions throughout. The tour was informative and detailed, going through many periods of the city’s history and touching on architecture, historical events, industry and lifestyle among other things. The tour was a great length to get a feel for the city and its history as a tourist, and Yoreh also recommended many places worth visiting for the rest of my stay. A fantastic tour overall.
